Imat 400mg tablet contains imatinib, an antineoplastic drug classified as a tyrosine kinase inhibitor. It is primarily used for treating chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) in adults and childrena type of leukemia where abnormal white blood cells grow uncontrollably.
Uses of Imat 400mg Tablet
This medication is prescribed for:
- Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML)
- Philadelphia Chromosome-Positive Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (Ph-positive ALL)
- Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumors (GIST) Tumors that develop in the digestive tract and may spread.
- Myelodysplastic/Myeloproliferative Diseases (MDS/MPD) Blood disorders where certain cells grow abnormally.
- Hypereosinophilic Syndrome (HES) and Chronic Eosinophilic Leukemia (CEL) Conditions causing excessive growth of eosinophils (a type of white blood cell).
- Dermatofibrosarcoma Protuberans (DFSP) A rare cancer affecting the tissue beneath the skin.
How It Works
Imat 400mg inhibits the abnormal growth of blood cells and tumors by blocking specific proteins responsible for their multiplication.
Precautions and Warnings
Do NOT take Imat 400mg if you:
- Are allergic to imatinib or any of its ingredients.
Before starting treatment, inform your doctor if you:
- Have kidney, liver, or heart problems.
- Have thyroid issues or have had your thyroid removed.
- Have a history of hepatitis B, as this medicine can reactivate the infection.
